Barbarians & Merchants, an expansion for the CATAN strategy game

It offers new challenges that will delight all explorers. There are 5 new scenarios, which can be played one after the other to form a campaign, and 4 rule variants that will enrich your games.

The Thief with a Big Heart, The Adventures of CATAN, The Ports of CATAN, and CATAN for 2 are the four variants offered. In the first, a thief only attacks players who already have a certain number of victory points. In the second, the dice are replaced by Adventure cards that alter chance. The third offers a race for ports and a bonus tile. Finally, the last one allows for exciting duels between two players.

The scenarios take you on a great adventure: exploit a lake full of fish, search for gold along a river, set up your caravan near an oasis, repel a horde of barbarians, then rebuild the island's castle. Each module can be played on its own or linked together to create a coherent and immersive campaign.

The CATAN board game base set is required.

New “Refresh” 2025 version: new card artwork (front and back), hexagons, and color changes for some tokens. Please note: Compatibility with older editions is not complete and will require some adjustments.
